A new finding about the herbal supplements has been brought in light by an academic doctor Anne-Thea McGill at International congress on obesity. According to her the Herbal supplements which we consume to lose our extra weight don't help us in getting rid of those extra pounds because these herbals don't effect on body mechanism to store fat.
Mc Gill said "We used to get enough micronutrients from past diets high in fruit, vegetables, fibre and lean protein, but with our current diet we don't,"
Most of the foods we eat don't have micronutrients in them as we mainly eat processed food. Also it appears that human metabolism is not making many vitamins which save energy to be used by the complex activities of brain.
Processed food, excess energy and micronutrient deficiency all these contribute to malnutrition in human body. Dr. Mc Gill also told that "The body reacts to the famine stress by storing fat around the upper body."
People often buy vitamins and mineral supplements to cover up the deficiency but it is also told that these nutrients will be more effective in weight loss if they are taken in their natural form such as garlic, amino acids and soya.
But it does not mean that anybody can consume them in any amount, the amount varies from person to person. High amount of carotene can cause lung cancer in smokers and people who have cardiovascular diseases will increase the risk of heart failure if vitamin A has been given to them.
