carry health risks
September 21, 2005
Weight loss aids without a trace of Ephedra have also been
found to carry many health risks. Health experts who studied
10 healthy volunteers noticed that two ephedra-free diet
supplements increased the heart rates and one also raised
the blood pressure of volunteers.
The weight loss supplements studied are sold as Advantra
Z and Xenadrine EFX and it contain extracts of orange known
scientifically as Citrus aurantium. A compound called synephrine
is seen in Citrus aurantium which stimulates the central
nervous system and boost metabolism. The keen man behind
new study, Dr. Christine A Haller said there has hardly
been any research on the safety and efficacy of bitter orange
extract and this indicated that people should use caution.
