Liver damage, a result of Slimming
Pill use
September 19, 2005
The British watch dog has warned weight loss drug users
in the country that various Chinese medicines floating in
the UK drug market can cause severe side effects like liver
damage. The unlicensed medicines often contain toxic herbal
ingredients which are not suited for use.
Some Slimming pills have medicines such as sibutramine and
a stimulant called methylphenidate which can raise blood
pressure. Also a banned herb aristolochia has been widely
used in toxic slimming pills. These low quality products
can cause health risks and complications in obese patients.
The British watch dog also stated, many of these products
are promoted as natural and safe and the hazardous ingredients
may not be declared on the label.
