Yoga more for flexibility than Weight Loss

Yoga burns only about 144 calories during a 50 minute session
where as it is very effective for trunk flexibility, improving
shoulder and over all balance. Even a moderate walk can
burn more calories than yoga and stimulate weight loss.
The nonprofit American Council on Exercise praises yoga
as an overall health activity rather than a tool for treating
obesity. In order to speed up weight loss, activities like
jogging, swimming or cycling are more appropriate and effective.
Also there is power yoga which can take away 237 calories
from the body on a 50 minute session. It improves heartbeat
and heart rate but doesn’t qualify for an aerobic
exercise. Besides people who are obese should do yoga carefully
as it can cause serious injuries if not carried out properly.
