Family Physicians early intervention could curtail Obesity
October 3, 2005
Early advice on obesity issues and its serious health consequences
by family doctors can help reduce the onset of obesity syndrome
among the younger generation. The American academy of Family
Physicians Scientific Assembly addressed the need for a
better doctor-patient relationship during early childhood.
Family physicians have to identify and intervene in obesity
matters during childhood and guide patients to prevent long-term
health effects as a result of overeating or lack of exercise.
The earlier the intervention the easier it is to treat the
disorder. Obesity has been identified as a top health issue
which needs immediate attention in America. It has become
an epidemic and is the cause of many diseases which are
making patients unhealthy and thus affecting the government’s
health budget.
