A new diet drug is going to be launched soon

November 10, 2005

A promising diet drugs’ approval is anticipated by millions of obese people worldwide. The eagerly waited weight loss drug will be marketed under the name of Acomplia. This drug belongs to an entirely new class of drug that works on a newly discovered pathway in the brain. It turns off something called the Endocannabinoid System. It can prove as a better and effortless alternative for losing weight as compared to fad diets and other forms of dieting.

The clinical trials conducted on Acomplia showed that patients who took this drug lost an average of 11 and a half pounds, compared to just over three pounds for those who took a placebo According to studies, even those patients who did not lose weight taking this drug during clinical studies have benefited from using the drug. Results show that one-third of people who did not lose weight on the drug still had improvements in cholesterol and other heart-disease risk factors.

Therefore, this wonder drug may offer a way for obese patients to lose weight and reduce their risk for developing cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes. Its multi-usability can soar its popularity amongst the obese community.
