Weight loss surgery for moderate obese people

According to recent study Gastric banding is an effective treatment for mild to moderate obesity as compared to nonsurgical program. During research the surgeons randomly assigned eight moderately obese patients to laparoscopic gastric banding and non surgical programs. In a non surgical programs very low calories diet and weight loss drugs were involved.
Both groups lost equal percentages of weight (13%) after six months, but after 24 months the group of gastric banding lost 21.6 percent of initial weight as compared to other group who lost only 5.5 percent of initial weight.
For making the gastric bands adjustable the surgeons had performed several hundred of procedure and have experienced in adjustment. This surgery was performed on those patients that current recommendation for weight loss do not include surgery and was very much beneficial for that patients, the resources said.
