A bill for weight loss surgery coverage
March 14, 2006
Obese people who had gastric bypass surgery which saved
their lives are supporting a bill that would require insurance
companies to cover the weight loss surgery and other procedures
needed by morbidly obese people. According to them those
who've had gastric bypass surgery said that it will save
insurance companies money in the long-run because their
costs for medication and treatment for other problems will
be lower.
Doctor Jonathan Aranow of Middletown says insurance companies
stopped covering the procedure in 2005. He says if the companies
don't pay for the procedure now they'll be paying for health
problems later. Obesity is a big problem and proper usage
of diet pills such as phentermine, Adipex and Xenical can
provide short term relief from weight loss.
