Increasing demand of weight loss surgeries in US
June 19, 2006
According to recent studies the weight loss surgeries increased up to 600 percent in between 1998 and 2002 in US. The results showed on the basis of the data collected by hospital discharge records.
The main reason for demand of weight loss surgeries is the significant time period in which weight is not regained in this surgery method of weight loss. The study shows that in non surgical weight loss programs 95 percent of patients regained their weight after three to five years.
The surgeries demand increased more after laparoscopic bariatric surgery introduced for weight loss which is far easier and less painful as compared to gastric bypass.
"The surgeries provide very best for patients and help
them on to the road of success" said by Dr. Eugene Rumsey,
M.D., Pacific Bartatric Surgical Medical Group and Scripps
Mercy Hospital surgeon.
