Hospitals promoting weight loss
January 9, 2006
With the beginning of the new year, local medical providers
are offering new options to help people realize their weight
loss desire. Northeast Georgia Medical Center, which has
become nationally recognized for its gastric-bypass surgery
center at Lanier Park, is launching a non surgical program
called Living Lighter on Jan. 16 to cater to the obese population.
Lanier Park's Bariatric Weight Loss Center performed about
300 gastric-bypass operations last year. A free information
session about Living Lighter, the weight loss program is
set for 5:30 p.m. today in the Blue Ridge Room on the Lanier
Park campus. The program, which costs $300, includes 12
weeks of classes led by registered dietitian Ginny Reddick,
who also works with patients following gastric bypass surgery.
Apart from weight loss programs, diet pills are also a
nice alternative for weight loss. Diet pills such as phentermine
are a proven source of weight loss.
