Diabetes is more common in obese children

According to researchers in Michigan, obese children are more than twice as likely to have diabetes than children of normal weight. The study conducted by the University of Michigan Health System, published in the February issue of Diabetes Care, estimates that one-third of the more than 229,000 American children suffering with diabetes are obese.

The large number of children with diabetes in the U.S., and the potential for increasing numbers of children developing diabetes with the obesity epidemic has serious implications for how these children will receive appropriate healthcare now and as they grow into adulthood. Obesity can be controlled by leading a healthy life and usage of diet pills such as phentermine. This diet pill has helped millions of people lose weight within a short span of time.
