A new weight loss drug passes clinical trial
December 12, 2005
According to research conducted by a team at the University
of Florida, sugar intake can hamper the process of weight
loss as it could be making people fatter more quickly. Fructose,
found in common sugar, processed foods and fruits usually
hampers the metabolic function of the body resulting in
weight gain. Most of the modern food products contain high
levels of fructose which makes its eater gain weight easily.
The diet pill of Alizyme has shown great potential in treating
obesity. These positive results have confirmed the commercial
potential of cetilistat. As a result, its developer is planning
to prepare for Phase III development, whilst continuing
dialogue with potential licensing partners. The drug is
going to provide tough competition to other available diet
pills such as phentermine, Adipex and Xenical used for treating
obesity.
