Sugar intake hampers weight loss
December 7, 2005
According to research conducted by a team at the University
of Florida, sugar intake can hamper the process of weight
loss as it could be making people fatter more quickly. Fructose,
found in common sugar, processed foods and fruits usually
hampers the metabolic function of the body resulting in
weight gain. Most of the modern food products contain high
levels of fructose which makes its eater gain weight easily.
Leptin is a hormone commonly associated with obesity that
plays a key role in regulating weight and appetite. The
findings suggests that the metabolic and hormonal changes
that normally works against weight gain starts restoring
the lost weight once the leptin levels of the body is restored.
The hormonal imbalance makes weight loss a distant affair.
