Scotland faces a big threat from obesity
December 5, 2005
The dreaded ailment of obesity is gradually rising to epidemic
proportions in Scotland. The number of deaths linked to
obesity has risen by nearly 50% within a decade in Scotland
and the sad part is that obesity was mentioned as a contributory
cause in 139 deaths last year as compared to 95 in 1995.
This sudden rise of obesity is due to the incorrect lifestyle
of the natives of Scotland.
According to the researchers, fructose hampers the body's
metabolism and causes a rise in uric acid in the bloodstream,
which has negative implications on our body. Therefore,
consuming fructose over a long period of time could lead
to metabolic syndrome which causes obesity apart from severe
ailments like high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Obesity can be very painful and the best way to overcome
it is by lowering the sugar intake and using diet pills
such as phentermine.
