Gastric stimulator to combat obesity
April 27, 2006
A US based heart pacemaker Company has a plan to develop a battery-powered gastric pacemaker to fight obesity. This device can make fool of an obese person’s mind that his stomach is full. It directly sends signals for satiety to brain’s appetite center. After that device use electricity to paralyze the system which digest the food, it slow down the process of food digestion.
The doctor and companies across the United States are looking for these kinds of devices which help to combat obesity. These methods, though not completely understood by doctors, may be preferable to bariatric surgery since device-based treatments are reversible and have fewer side effects.
According to experts “The device generates the electric
rays which results muscle in the stomach contracts and slower
down the process of digestion”.
But there are some questions not yet solved how much supply
of voltage should be proper for this device that it can
generate proper frequency for stimulation.
