Hunger - an obstacle in weight loss
The biggest obstacle in the process of weight loss is hunger.
Hunger makes us miserable. No matter how motivated and inspired
we are to lose weight, hunger always wins and destroys our
diet in the process. Therefore it's always better to think
rationally and eat small meals in regular intervals. It
will make us less hungry and will help in controlling our
cravings.
Hunger is the root cause behind obesity because when it
becomes unbearable, we typically reach for all the wrong
foods. Mostly we indulge on all sorts of wrong stuff to
satiate our hunger such as cookies, cakes, popcorn or anything.
Unfortunately these foods simply make the problem worse.
Due to their high calorie-content, they play havoc with
our blood glucose levels which can lead to cravings, mood
and appetite swings. In short, it makes us put on more weight
than before.
Most of us believe that food causes weight gain and as
a result we tend to eat less food for controlling weight.
But this belief is absolutely baseless because successful
weight loss doesn't mean eating less - it means eating differently.
Therefore instead of going hungry, we need to cut down on
calorie-dense foods (usually fatty-sugary foods) and eat
more lower-calorie or lighter foods, especially those rich
in dietary fiber.
Increasing our metabolism rate is one of the best ways
to curtail obesity and attain weight loss. Our metabolism
normally governs the rate at which we burn calories. Although
it is largely inherited, we can raise it slightly, thereby
burning calories faster. One of the safest way to raise
your metabolic rate is to eat little and often. It makes
us less hungry and keeps us away from putting weight.
Starving or hunger should be strictly avoided by all means.
The best way to do this, is to eat little and often. For
optimum weight loss, we need to choose
a low-fat, low sugar diet which includes plenty of fiber.
These foods satiate our hunger without expanding our waistline.
So, avoid hunger and eat healthy for making weight loss
a smooth and healthy affair.
